I was never really that close with my dad. After my parents divorced when I was about 8years old we would go to his house on weekends to visit. Until his drinking got in the way and we quit going. This is a long story that I'd rather not get into right now but I might make a post about it later. He passed away in March of 2000 right before my 14th birthday.
My mom on the other hand has always been there for me. Of course like most girls and their moms we didn't get along when I was a teenager and never really became friends until I moved to Florida when I was 20. Now I consider her one of my best friends, if not my BEST friend! Now that I live in Michigan (just right down the road from her) she comes over for dinner pretty much every night and we do everything together. I'm actually not looking forward to getting our next duty station because I don't want to move away from my mom again!
